play lists and volume control

Postby mitchwells » Wed Feb 10, 2010 7:32 pm

First off, I love this plug-in. Thank you so much!

I have been using jPlayer, but I could not get it to work in WordPress. (Not really sure why.) So I was thrilled to discover WPaudio. But jPlayer does do a couple things that I think are useful: it handles playlists and it has a volume control.

If you want to see my implementation of jPlayer, it's here: www.mitchwells.com/music

I haven't finished switching over to wpAudio, but my test is here: http://mitchwells.com/music-wp/?p=21

Thanks again! - Mitch

Nice styling, Mitch. Good-looking site, too.

I have playlists in mind, so thanks for showing me your jPlayer implementation.

I'm undecided as to whether I should offer volume control as on option, but I'm giving it more thought.

Appreciate your comments -- keep me posted.

awesome plugin.
a suggestion...

similar to a playlist, i think itd be useful to be able to have songs "roll" into another. not in a singular unit like a playlist, but rather individual instances of wpaudio - connected.

for example:
Code: Select all
[wpaudio url="song01.mp3" text="Song 01 by Someone" group="a"]
[wpaudio url="song02.mp3" text="Song 02 by Someone" group="a"]
[wpaudio url="song03.mp3" text="Song 03 by Someone" group="a"]

[wpaudio url="song01.mp3" text="Song 01 by Someoneelse" group="b"]
[wpaudio url="song02.mp3" text="Song 02 by Someoneelse" group="b"]
[wpaudio url="song03.mp3" text="Song 03 by Someoneelse" group="b"]

the ending of one song would trigger the start of the following instance of wpaudio in it's relative group.
thoughts?

hey there. definitely love using wpaudio; it fits right in over at the oh shit handle, a sorta snotty college-kid blog. that's not to say i think you're a snotty guy; you're probably a decent man. er-- i've dug a hole a mile deep. i'll just get on with my point.

i'm in the same boat with these other fellows-- playlist support would be excellent for a monthly "mixtape" feature. llr makes a great point of how this could be implemented on the authorial level, plus his grouping method would allow for splitting the tracks across a post, e.g., Song One by Someone plays, there's a write-up about how great the track is, and Song Two by Someone idles underneath with its accompanying textual blurb. When Song One finishes, Song Two fires, and so on.

would such a thing be tricky to do? i assume you're using a flash base employed with javascript; would jumping from one flash element to another turn out to be a colossal head-ache?

anyway, thanks for making a great plug-in!
